How DeepThink supports Beacon Primary School students

  • Lessons follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus exactly — the same topics, heuristics, and model-drawing methods your child uses at Beacon Primary School

  • Small group classes so your child can ask questions, get feedback, and is never lost in the crowd

  • From P5 onwards, every class is structured around PSLE technique — not just content, but how to show working clearly and pick up method marks

  • Parents are kept in the loop on what was covered and where their child needs more practice — so you're never in the dark between sessions

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for parents

Does DeepThink follow the same syllabus my child is on at Beacon Primary School?

Yes. All Singapore primary schools follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus, and our P1–P6 classes are built around that curriculum — the same topics, the same model-drawing and heuristics approach, and the same exam format your child sits at Beacon Primary School.

How will I know if my child is making progress?

Parents are kept informed on what was covered and where their child should focus. We also flag any persistent gaps as soon as we spot them — not just before exams.

When should my child start tuition?

There's no single right answer, but earlier is generally better. Gaps in foundational topics like fractions and ratios compound as children move through primary school. A free trial class is a good way to find out where your child actually stands.

What makes DeepThink different from other math tuition centres?

Small group classes, parents kept in the loop on progress, and a curriculum focused on the exact skills MOE examiners test — including how to structure solutions, not just whether the answer is correct.

School Overview

Beacon Primary School is a government co-educational primary school located at 36 Bukit Panjang Ring Road, Singapore 679944. It was established in 2007 as the first primary school under the FutureSchools@Singapore programme, and welcomed its pioneer cohort of 240 pupils on 2 January 2008. The school was officially opened on 23 July 2010 by then-Acting Minister for Education RADM (NS) Lui Tuck Yew.

The school operates on a single-session model and is guided by a philosophy centred on values-driven, student-focused learning. Its educational approach prioritises bilingualism, character development, and hands-on experiential learning. Beacon is an MOE-affiliated institution that provides Higher Mother Tongue options as well as support for students with special needs, including the P1 Transit programme designed for pupils with social and behavioural needs.

Admission Process

Admission to Primary 1 at Beacon Primary School follows the MOE Primary 1 Registration Exercise. Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents register online through the P1 Registration Portal using Singpass, progressing through phases 1 to 2C Supplementary based on eligibility criteria such as sibling enrolment, alumni connections, and home-school distance. International students must submit a separate indication of interest form.

Siblings of current students are given priority under Phase 1. In Phase 2C, which is open to children who have not been placed in earlier phases, priority is determined by proximity to the school — families living within 1 km receive the highest priority, followed by those within 1–2 km, then those beyond 2 km. When applications exceed available places in any phase, MOE conducts a balloting exercise to allocate spots fairly.

Parents should check the MOE website for key registration dates each year and prepare supporting documents such as the child's birth certificate.

Curriculum and Academic Programme

Beacon Primary School follows the standard MOE curriculum, covering English, Mathematics, Science, Mother Tongue Languages (Chinese, Malay, and Tamil), Art, Music, Physical Education, and Social Studies. Foundation and standard levels are available for core subjects, allowing the school to cater to pupils with different learning needs. Higher Mother Tongue is offered for students with stronger language ability.

The school's Applied Learning Programme (ALP) focuses on STEM and sustainability, operating under the name Beacon Environmental Stewardship. Through this programme, students engage in hands-on projects that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with environmental themes. The Learning for Life Programme (LLP) is centred on community service and student leadership, delivered through the Beacon Future Ready Programme (BFRP) and its Beacon At Your Service (BAYS) component, which encourages pupils to develop empathy and a sense of civic responsibility.

Mathematics instruction at Beacon uses inquiry-based methods with technology integration, aiming to build problem-solving skills from an early stage. Students have performed well in competitions such as the Singapore Maths Kangaroo Contest, where pupils including Du Xingyi and Yu Zichen have earned gold medals and perfect scores. For families seeking additional structured practice in mathematics outside school hours, DeepThink is a math tuition centre that offers programmes aligned to the primary syllabus.

Facilities and Co-Curricular Activities

Beacon Primary School moved to its permanent purpose-built campus in 2008. The campus includes classrooms fitted with interactive learning technology, a library with STEM resources and mathematics manipulatives, and dedicated science laboratories. Outdoor learning areas, including eco-gardens linked to the ALP, support collaborative and environmental learning. A sports hall provides space for physical education and indoor activities.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are available primarily for P3 to P6 students, with modular introductory options for lower primary. The school offers more than 15 CCAs across four categories. Sports options include basketball (boys), netball (girls), football (boys), wushu, and tchoukball. Uniformed groups include Scouts. In the performing arts, students can participate in choir, percussion ensemble, or ukulele ensemble. Clubs such as Art and Crafts, Robotics, and Environmental Science provide opportunities for pupils interested in creative and analytical pursuits.

Student Life and School Culture

School hours at Beacon Primary School typically begin at 7:30 am and end around 1:30 pm, in line with MOE guidelines for single-session primary schools. The single-session structure allows afternoons to be used for CCAs, supplementary programmes, and enrichment activities.

The school places emphasis on character education, with values and social-emotional learning integrated into daily routines. The LLP's focus on community service gives students regular opportunities to contribute beyond the classroom, while the ALP in environmental stewardship connects learning with real-world sustainability issues.

Literary and creative talents are also nurtured — Beacon pupils have received recognition at the National Primary Schools Literary Awards. Family involvement is encouraged through structured home-school partnership activities that support each child's learning and development.

For Singapore Citizens, monthly miscellaneous fees are approximately $13, with no tuition fees charged. Permanent Residents pay between $293 and $343 per month including school and miscellaneous fees. International students are subject to higher fee rates, which can be checked using the MOE fees calculator. Financial assistance schemes are available for eligible families.
