How DeepThink supports Canossa Catholic Primary School students

  • Lessons follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus exactly — the same topics, heuristics, and model-drawing methods your child uses at Canossa Catholic Primary School

  • Small group classes so your child can ask questions, get feedback, and is never lost in the crowd

  • From P5 onwards, every class is structured around PSLE technique — not just content, but how to show working clearly and pick up method marks

  • Parents are kept in the loop on what was covered and where their child needs more practice — so you're never in the dark between sessions

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for parents

Does DeepThink follow the same syllabus my child is on at Canossa Catholic Primary School?

Yes. All Singapore primary schools follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus, and our P1–P6 classes are built around that curriculum — the same topics, the same model-drawing and heuristics approach, and the same exam format your child sits at Canossa Catholic Primary School.

How will I know if my child is making progress?

Parents are kept informed on what was covered and where their child should focus. We also flag any persistent gaps as soon as we spot them — not just before exams.

When should my child start tuition?

There's no single right answer, but earlier is generally better. Gaps in foundational topics like fractions and ratios compound as children move through primary school. A free trial class is a good way to find out where your child actually stands.

What makes DeepThink different from other math tuition centres?

Small group classes, parents kept in the loop on progress, and a curriculum focused on the exact skills MOE examiners test — including how to structure solutions, not just whether the answer is correct.

School Overview

Canossa Catholic Primary School (CCPS) was founded in 1941 by the Canossian Daughters of Charity, inspired by the educational mission of St. Magdalene of Canossa, who dedicated her life to providing schooling for disadvantaged communities. The school originally operated as Canossa Convent Primary School, a private Chinese-medium institution that was disrupted during the Japanese Occupation. It resumed operations after the war and later became a government-aided school. In 2019, CCPS became co-educational, welcoming both boys and girls while continuing its Catholic tradition.

The school's guiding philosophy centres on the values of Aspire, Believe, and Commit (A.B.C.), with an emphasis on bilingual education, character formation, and inquiry-driven learning. CCPS holds Special Assistance Plan (SAP) status and is part of the wider Canossian school network. It is affiliated with St. Anthony's Canossian Secondary School, which provides priority admission consideration for eligible CCPS graduates after the PSLE.

A defining feature of CCPS is its Applied Learning Programme (ALP) in STEM and Sustainability, known as MAKE@CCPS. Beginning in Primary 1, students engage in hands-on activities such as screen-free coding using KUBO Robotics, building practical skills in problem-solving and environmental awareness. The school also runs a Learning for Life Programme (LLP) focused on Community Service and Student Leadership, referred to as The A.B.C. of Canossian Student Leadership.

Admission Process

Primary 1 registration at CCPS follows the standard MOE phased admission framework. Phase 1 is reserved for children who have a sibling currently enrolled at the school. Phase 2A covers children of alumni, staff members, and those connected to the school through its affiliated church or organisations. Phase 2B is for children whose parents have served as parent volunteers or who are endorsed by community or church leaders. Phase 2C is open to all remaining Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident applicants.

When applications in any phase exceed available places, balloting is conducted. Priority is given first to Singapore Citizens, then to Permanent Residents, with home-to-school distance used as a tiebreaker — children living within 1 km receive first priority, followed by those within 1 to 2 km, and then those beyond 2 km. The balloting process is computerised and administered by MOE.

Parents apply through the MOE Primary 1 Registration portal during the designated registration window each year. Required documents include the child's birth certificate and proof of citizenship or residency status. Past-year vacancy and balloting data for CCPS is published on the MOE website.

Curriculum and Academic Programme

CCPS follows the national primary curriculum set by MOE, covering English Language, Mathematics, Science (from Primary 3), Mother Tongue Languages, and Social Studies, alongside Art, Music, and Physical Education. Mother tongue options include Chinese, Malay, and Tamil, with Higher Chinese and Higher Tamil available for students who qualify, as well as foundation-level courses in Chinese and Malay.

The school's MAKE@CCPS programme integrates STEM concepts and sustainability themes across year levels, encouraging students to apply what they learn in the classroom to practical, real-world projects. This programme incorporates coding, robotics, and design thinking from the lower primary years onward.

For Mathematics specifically, CCPS offers differentiated pathways. The Bakhita Mathematics track provides advanced problem-solving challenges for higher-ability learners, while the Learning Support Programme for Mathematics (LSM) at Primary 1 and 2 gives additional help to students who need more time to build foundational numeracy skills. Parents seeking further support for their child's mathematics development outside school hours may consider DeepThink, a math tuition centre that offers structured programmes aligned with the primary syllabus.

PSLE preparation is built into the upper primary years through structured revision, regular assessments, and targeted academic support across all examinable subjects.

Facilities and Co-Curricular Activities

CCPS is situated within the Canossian Eduplex at 1 Sallim Road, Singapore 387621. The campus includes smart classrooms with interactive learning technology, a library, dedicated spaces for STEM and sustainability projects, a multipurpose hall, and outdoor learning areas. The school also supports students with special educational needs, particularly those with moderate to profound hearing loss, through an oral approach to education — a provision strengthened by the 2025 merger with Canossian School.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are available across several categories. In sports, students can participate in Track and Field, Taekwondo, and various modular sports programmes. Uniformed groups include Scouts for boys and Brownies (Girl Guides) for girls. Performing arts options cover Choir, Guitar Ensemble, and Modern Dance, while visual arts and club options include Art and Crafts and Infocomm Technology (Media Production). The Infocomm Technology CCA complements the school's ALP by giving students additional exposure to coding, digital media, and technology projects.

Student Life and School Culture

School life at CCPS is shaped by its Catholic and Canossian heritage, with an emphasis on compassion, service, and personal responsibility. The Learning for Life Programme develops student leadership through community service projects and structured leadership roles across year levels. Recognition programmes such as the St. Magdalene Award highlight students who demonstrate strong character and commitment to serving others.

CCPS operates as a single-session, government-aided school. It provides dedicated support for students with special educational needs, including P1 TRANSIT programmes for children with social and behavioural adjustment needs, and employs Special Educational Needs Officers on staff.
