Evergreen Secondary School has been a steady presence in Singapore’s education scene since it opened its doors in 2000. As a government, co-educational school running on a single-session schedule, it’s all about creating an inclusive space where boys and girls learn side by side.
G1, G2, and G3 students are in separate classes, each covering the content and exam format for that stream
O-Level, N-Level, and SEC exam preparation built in from S3, matched to the stream your child is sitting
E-Math and A-Math taught in separate classes from S3 onwards
S1 to S5 coverage so your child can stay with DeepThink for their entire secondary journey without switching centres
Secondary Math is not one-size-fits-all. A G1 student preparing for the SEC exam needs completely different content from a G3 student heading for A-Math. We keep streams in separate classes so every session is relevant.
Stream-specific
Yes. G1, G2, and G3 students each have their own class, so every lesson matches the exact syllabus and exam format your child is sitting.
S3 is where most students hit a wall — the syllabus gets significantly harder, A-Math is new, and SEC exam (or O-Level for the current Sec 4 cohort) prep begins. Students who build strong foundations in S1–S2 handle that jump far better. Starting early is the highest-leverage move a parent can make.
S1 is ideal — algebra gaps from the start of secondary compound quickly and are harder to fix later. That said, students who join in S3 or S4 can still benefit significantly from targeted exam preparation.
Stream-specific classes. Every lesson, worked example, and past-year paper is matched to your child's stream.
Established in 2000, Evergreen Secondary School is a government co-educational institution in Singapore that operates on a single-session schedule. The school began with 320 students and 12 teaching staff, initially running from a temporary site before relocating to its permanent campus in June of that year. Its motto, "Nurturing the Heart, Mind and Spirit," reflects the school's commitment to developing students holistically — academically, emotionally, and in terms of character.
The school holds several notable distinctions: it was designated the North Zone Centre of Excellence in National Education in 2003, and received the Lee Kuan Yew National Education Award in both 2004 and 2008. In 2009, Evergreen achieved niche status in National Education. Two signature programmes further shape the school's identity: the Applied Learning Programme (ALP) in Languages, titled "Effective Communicators with a Heart," which develops students' communication abilities in English, Chinese, and Malay through authentic contexts; and the Learning for Life Programme (LLP) in Sports and Outdoor Education, titled "Strengthening Resilience, Character and Leadership through Sports," which integrates physical activity into character building. The school's core values — enterprise, vision, and graciousness — are symbolised by the letters "EVG" on its badge. As a non-affiliated school, Evergreen does not offer priority admission to students from any particular primary school.
The school's vision centres on building a dynamic community of thinkers and contributors, while its mission is to develop students who are passionate about making a positive difference. Evergreen marked its 20th anniversary in 2020.
Entry to Evergreen Secondary School at Secondary 1 is primarily through the PSLE posting exercise and the Direct School Admission (DSA) scheme.
For the 2025 intake, the indicative cut-off points for non-affiliated students were: Posting Group 3 at 11 to 14, Posting Group 2 at 21 to 23, and Posting Group 1 at 25 to 28. These figures represent the PSLE score of the last student admitted during that cycle and are subject to change each year based on applicant demand. Since Evergreen has no primary school affiliations, all applicants are assessed on equal footing without priority bonuses.
Through DSA, students with demonstrated strengths in areas such as badminton, netball, bilingualism, leadership, or digital media may secure a place before PSLE results are released. Applications are submitted via the MOE DSA-Sec portal, which typically opens around the middle of the year.
Evergreen operates under Full Subject-Based Banding (SBB), which allows students to take individual subjects at different levels — from G1 through G3 — according to their aptitude. This replaces the former streaming model and gives students greater flexibility in tailoring their academic load. The school does not offer an Integrated Programme; all students follow the O-Level track.
Parents considering Evergreen are encouraged to attend the school's open house, usually held in May or June, and to consult the MOE SchoolFinder for the latest admissions data.
Evergreen Secondary School follows the national curriculum framework, preparing students for the GCE O-Level examinations. Core subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, the Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in various combinations), and Humanities (Social Studies paired with Geography or History). Elective offerings include Principles of Accounts, Nutrition and Food Science, Art, Design and Technology, Literature in English, and mother tongue languages such as Chinese, Malay, and their Higher variants. Students in the Normal streams can also access subjects like Computer Applications and Elements of Business Skills.
The school's Applied Learning Programme in Languages, introduced in 2018, is one of only four such programmes in Singapore. It provides structured, multi-tiered opportunities for students to develop communication skills across English, Chinese, and Malay in real-world settings. STEM education is supported through hands-on laboratory work and computing modules, while bilingual tracks prepare students for an increasingly interconnected world.
In 2014, the school introduced a character coaching framework that complements its academic programmes, reinforcing the connection between personal development and academic progress.
For students who would benefit from additional support in Mathematics — whether in Elementary or Additional Math — DeepThink is a math tuition centre that offers structured programmes aligned to the O-Level syllabus, helping students build confidence and strengthen their problem-solving skills alongside their school curriculum.
The Evergreen campus includes smart classrooms with interactive technology, a library, dedicated science and computer laboratories, arts studios, a sports complex, and multipurpose halls. The school also has Special Educational Needs Officers on staff to support students who require additional learning assistance.
Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are compulsory for all students and span four main categories:
Sports: Badminton, Cross Country, Netball, Rugby (Boys), Table Tennis, and Volleyball.
Uniformed Groups: National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC), Red Cross Youth, National Cadet Corps (NCC) Land (Boys), and National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC).
Visual and Performing Arts: Chinese Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, Gamelan Ensemble, Chinese Dance, and Malay Dance.
Clubs and Societies: English Language Drama and Debating, Community Service (Rotary-Sponsored), Singapore Youth Flying Club, Infocomm Technology (Computing), Bilingualism, Chinese and Malay Language clubs, Digital Media, and Leadership.
Student leadership opportunities are available through the Student Council, House Leadership, and Prefect roles. CCA involvement contributes to character development and aligns with the school's LLP in Sports and Outdoor Education, supporting the broader goal of building resilience, teamwork, and leadership in every student.
Daily life at Evergreen follows a structured routine of assemblies, lessons, project-based work, and CCA sessions. The co-educational environment means students learn and collaborate across gender lines from Secondary 1 onwards. Class sizes are approximately 40 students, and the school maintains pastoral care teams comprising form teachers and counsellors who provide guidance on academic, social, and emotional matters.
The school culture is grounded in values of respect, perseverance, and inclusivity. Programmes focused on resilience and character development are woven throughout the school year, supported by peer mentoring, counselling services, and well-being initiatives. Anti-bullying frameworks and mindfulness activities form part of the school's approach to student welfare.
For students transitioning into secondary school, Evergreen encourages early involvement in a CCA as a way to build friendships and settle into school routines. Consistent study habits — such as regular, short revision sessions in subjects like Mathematics — can also help students manage the increased academic demands without feeling overwhelmed.
The school can be reached at 6365 6392 or via email at [email protected].
