Math Tuition for Lakeside Primary School Students

Small-group Primary Math classes where every child gets individual attention — and the skills to show it in exams.

The school was founded in 1968. DeepThink's Primary Math programme is designed to support Lakeside Primary School students from P1 through P6.

About Lakeside Primary School

Founded: 1968

How DeepThink supports Lakeside Primary School students

  • Lessons follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus exactly — the same topics, heuristics, and model-drawing methods your child uses at Lakeside Primary School

  • Small group classes so your child can ask questions, get feedback, and is never lost in the crowd

  • From P5 onwards, every class is structured around PSLE technique — not just content, but how to show working clearly and pick up method marks

  • Parents are kept in the loop on what was covered and where their child needs more practice — so you're never in the dark between sessions

What your child gets at DeepThink

Each weekly session builds directly on the last. Your child works through new concepts, revisits gaps, and practises exam-style questions — in a group small enough that the teacher actually knows them.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for parents

Does DeepThink follow the same syllabus my child is on at Lakeside Primary School?

Yes. All Singapore primary schools follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus, and our P1–P6 classes are built around that curriculum — the same topics, the same model-drawing and heuristics approach, and the same exam format your child sits at Lakeside Primary School.

How will I know if my child is making progress?

Parents are kept informed on what was covered and where their child should focus. We also flag any persistent gaps as soon as we spot them — not just before exams.

When should my child start tuition?

There's no single right answer, but earlier is generally better. Gaps in foundational topics like fractions and ratios compound as children move through primary school. A free trial class is a good way to find out where your child actually stands.

What makes DeepThink different from other math tuition centres?

Small group classes, parents kept in the loop on progress, and a curriculum focused on the exact skills MOE examiners test — including how to structure solutions, not just whether the answer is correct.

School Overview

Lakeside Primary School was formed in January 2004 through the consolidation of three neighbourhood institutions: Jurong Town Primary School (founded 1968), Merlimau Primary School, and Yung An Primary School. Situated in Jurong West, the school serves the local community as a co-educational, single-session government primary school.

The school operates under the motto "ThInkers with Heart" and is guided by its Lakeside PRIDE values — Love, Perseverance, Responsibility, Integrity, Diligence, and Respect. Its educational approach centres on bilingualism, character formation, and inquiry-driven learning.

Two signature programmes define the school's identity. The Applied Learning Programme (ALP), titled "ThInkers with Heart," takes an interdisciplinary approach that brings together mathematics, science, and technology to address real-world problems. Students engage in hands-on projects such as designing sustainable solutions using mathematical modelling. The Learning for Life Programme (LLP), known as "STARS witHeARTs," develops leadership qualities through music and the performing arts. Lakeside does not hold Special Assistance Plan (SAP) status but follows the MOE holistic education framework.

Admission Process

Primary 1 registration at Lakeside Primary School follows the MOE P1 Registration Exercise, conducted online via the P1 Registration Portal using Singpass. The exercise proceeds through the following phases:

Phase 1 is reserved for children who have a sibling currently enrolled at the school. Phase 2A covers children of alumni members and those with existing school connections. Phase 2B applies to children of parent volunteers who have completed at least 40 hours of service, or those affiliated through a community or religious organisation connected to the school. Phase 2C is open to all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who have not secured a place in earlier phases. A supplementary Phase 2C round may follow if places remain.

Within each phase, priority is given based on home-to-school distance, with those living within 1 km receiving the highest priority, followed by those within 1–2 km. Balloting takes place when applications in any phase exceed available vacancies.

For mid-year transfers or admissions beyond P1, parents may submit a waitlist request directly to the school. Placement depends on vacancy. Returning Singaporeans are not required to sit an admission test.

Lakeside Primary School is located at 161 Corporation Walk, Singapore 618310, near Lakeside MRT station. The school can be reached by phone at 6262 0918 or by email at [email protected].

Curriculum and Academic Programme

Lakeside Primary School delivers the national primary curriculum, covering English Language, Mathematics, Science, Mother Tongue Languages (Chinese, Malay, and Tamil at standard, foundation, and higher levels), Social Studies, Art, Music, and Physical Education. Students are prepared for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) under the Achievement Level (AL) scoring system, with subjects offered at both standard and foundation levels from Primary 5 onward.

The school's ALP integrates mathematics and science with technology-based project work, giving students opportunities to apply concepts such as data collection, measurement, and mathematical reasoning to practical scenarios. This interdisciplinary approach helps build problem-solving confidence and analytical thinking from an early age.

Mother Tongue instruction incorporates technology and interactive activities to keep younger students engaged with their language learning. Higher Mother Tongue options are available for students who demonstrate strong aptitude.

For families seeking additional support in mathematics beyond what the school provides, DeepThink is a math tuition centre that offers structured programmes aligned to the primary syllabus, helping students strengthen their grasp of key PSLE concepts.

Facilities and Co-Curricular Activities

The school campus features classrooms equipped with interactive technology for blended learning. A library supports independent reading and research, while outdoor spaces — including a multipurpose field and environmental gardens linked to the ALP — offer hands-on learning opportunities in science and mathematics. The school hall serves as a venue for assemblies, performances, and indoor physical activities. The campus underwent PERI upgrading, which was completed in 2015.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are an integral part of student life at Lakeside Primary. Available CCAs span four broad categories:

Sports: Football (Boys), Wushu, and Volleyball provide physical development and teamwork opportunities.

Uniformed Groups: Scouts encourages discipline, outdoor skills, and collaborative problem-solving.

Performing Arts: Choir, Guzheng Ensemble, Concert Band, and Speech and Drama support creative expression and are closely tied to the school's LLP.

Clubs: Art and Crafts, Environmental Science, Infocomm Technology (Media Production), and Community Service allow students to explore specific interests, from coding and sustainability projects to community engagement.

Student Life and School Culture

Daily life at Lakeside Primary is shaped by the school's PRIDE values and its focus on developing well-rounded individuals across five domains: academic, physical, aesthetic, moral, and social. The school celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2017, reflecting a growing institutional identity built from the legacies of its three founding schools.

Character and citizenship education is woven into the school programme, with students encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and to contribute positively to their community. The LLP creates regular opportunities for students to perform and lead, while environmental sustainability initiatives — recognised through awards such as the 3 Stars certification in the Green Schools @ South West programme in 2024 — connect classroom learning to real-world responsibility.

The school holds an annual Awards Day that recognises achievement across academics, the arts, and sport. Students have also participated in national competitions in STEM-related areas, building confidence and extending their learning beyond the standard curriculum.

As a single-session school, Lakeside runs its academic programme in the morning, with CCAs and supplementary activities taking place in the afternoon. This structure provides a consistent routine and allows time for both structured learning and co-curricular engagement.

Frequently Asked Questions about Lakeside Primary School
