S1 to S5 coverage so your child can stay with DeepThink for their entire secondary journey without switching centres
Secondary Math is not one-size-fits-all. A G1 student preparing for the SEC exam needs completely different content from a G3 student heading for A-Math. We keep streams in separate classes so every session is relevant.
Stream-specific
Yes. G1, G2, and G3 students each have their own class, so every lesson matches the exact syllabus and exam format your child is sitting.
S3 is where most students hit a wall — the syllabus gets significantly harder, A-Math is new, and SEC exam (or O-Level for the current Sec 4 cohort) prep begins. Students who build strong foundations in S1–S2 handle that jump far better. Starting early is the highest-leverage move a parent can make.
S1 is ideal — algebra gaps from the start of secondary compound quickly and are harder to fix later. That said, students who join in S3 or S4 can still benefit significantly from targeted exam preparation.
Stream-specific classes. Every lesson, worked example, and past-year paper is matched to your child's stream.
Loyang View Secondary School is a government co-educational institution situated in the Pasir Ris neighbourhood. It was founded in 1989 and operates on a single-session timetable. The school identifies itself as a "Happy and Caring School" and aims to develop future-ready students of strong character. Its guiding values are integrity, responsibility, respect, resilience, and care.
The school runs an Applied Learning Programme (ALP) in STEM, centred on sustainability through design and engineering. Students engage in practical projects such as urban farming and futurist design challenges. The Learning for Life Programme (LLP) focuses on sports and outdoor education, structured around three phases: exposure, empowerment, and excellence. Secondary 3 students have the opportunity to participate in an Overseas Enrichment Programme. Beginning in 2025, a new Spotlight initiative will offer talent development pathways in the arts, music, and performance.
Loyang View Secondary School is not affiliated with any primary school, so all applicants enter through the standard posting process based on PSLE Achievement Level (AL) scores. The indicative cut-off points based on the 2024 intake are as follows:
Posting Group 3: AL 13 to 22
Posting Group 2: AL 22 to 25
Posting Group 1 (Higher Mother Tongue): AL 26 to 30
These figures reflect the score of the last student posted to the school in that cycle and may vary each year.
Direct School Admission (DSA) is available for students with strengths in areas aligned to the school's programmes, including STEM (open to boys and girls), Basketball (boys), and Shooting. Applications are submitted through the MOE DSA portal, typically between May and June, at no cost.
The school implements Full Subject-Based Banding (SBB), which allows students to take individual subjects at different levels from Secondary 1 onward based on their demonstrated ability. There is no Integrated Programme (IP) — students follow O-Level pathways through Express or Normal (Academic) tracks.
The curriculum follows MOE guidelines and provides a broad foundation across English Language, Mathematics (Elementary and Additional), Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), and Humanities (Social Studies combined with Geography or History). Elective subjects include Principles of Accounts and Higher Mother Tongue languages.
The school's 2024 O-Level results were described as outstanding, with particularly strong outcomes in Mother Tongue Languages. Historical data indicates high progression rates to post-secondary institutions. The STEM-focused ALP gives students hands-on experience with sustainability and engineering projects, while leadership modules complement academic learning.
For students who would like additional support in Mathematics alongside their school curriculum, DeepThink is a math tuition centre that offers structured programmes aligned to the O-Level syllabuses, which some families in the area have found helpful.
The campus includes smart classrooms with interactive technology, science and computer laboratories, a library, arts studios, a sports complex with rockwall climbing walls, and eco-friendly urban farming spaces that support the school's sustainability programmes.
Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are grouped into four categories:
Sports and Games: Basketball, Floorball, Netball, Shooting, Rockwall Climbing, and Taekwondo.
Performing Arts: Modern Dance, English Drama, and Concert Band. The new Spotlight programme provides additional development opportunities in this area.
Uniformed Groups: Boys' Brigade, Girl Guides, National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC), and National Cadet Corps (NCC Land).
Clubs and Societies: Robotics, Infocomm Technology (Media Production), and Environmental Club, several of which are linked to the school's STEM ALP.
All students participate in Values-in-Action (VIA) community service initiatives as part of the school's character development framework.
The school places a strong emphasis on pastoral care, student well-being, and an inclusive environment. Anti-bullying programmes and resilience workshops are part of the support structure, guided by MOE frameworks. Class sizes are typically between 35 and 40 students.
Multicultural events and activities reflecting the school's core values are a regular part of school life. Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) covers contemporary issues at personal, national, and global levels, and the LLP in sports and outdoor education reinforces values such as resilience and leadership.
Parents can participate in the Parents Support Group @ LVSS and the Family Matters @ School Programme, which includes Positive Parenting Programme (Triple P) workshops. The school also runs a Future-Ready Programme that assists students with career planning and post-secondary pathway guidance.
For Secondary 1 students transitioning from primary school, the school provides orientation programmes, peer mentoring, and access to Special Educational Needs Officers for additional support.
