About North View Primary School

Founded: 1995

How DeepThink supports North View Primary School students

  • Lessons follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus exactly — the same topics, heuristics, and model-drawing methods your child uses at North View Primary School

  • Small group classes so your child can ask questions, get feedback, and is never lost in the crowd

  • From P5 onwards, every class is structured around PSLE technique — not just content, but how to show working clearly and pick up method marks

  • Parents are kept in the loop on what was covered and where their child needs more practice — so you're never in the dark between sessions

What your child gets at DeepThink

Each weekly session builds directly on the last. Your child works through new concepts, revisits gaps, and practises exam-style questions — in a group small enough that the teacher actually knows them.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for parents

Does DeepThink follow the same syllabus my child is on at North View Primary School?

Yes. All Singapore primary schools follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus, and our P1–P6 classes are built around that curriculum — the same topics, the same model-drawing and heuristics approach, and the same exam format your child sits at North View Primary School.

How will I know if my child is making progress?

Parents are kept informed on what was covered and where their child should focus. We also flag any persistent gaps as soon as we spot them — not just before exams.

When should my child start tuition?

There's no single right answer, but earlier is generally better. Gaps in foundational topics like fractions and ratios compound as children move through primary school. A free trial class is a good way to find out where your child actually stands.

What makes DeepThink different from other math tuition centres?

Small group classes, parents kept in the loop on progress, and a curriculum focused on the exact skills MOE examiners test — including how to structure solutions, not just whether the answer is correct.

School Overview

North View Primary School was founded in 1995 under its inaugural principal, Mr Lawrence Chong, and held its official opening ceremony on 2 August 1997. Located in Yishun, the school operates as a government co-educational primary school under the Ministry of Education (MOE) and runs on a single-session timetable.

The school's philosophy, captured in the tagline "We are Full-House," reflects a commitment to nurturing every student across academic, social, and character dimensions. Its core values — Graciousness, Integrity, Resilience, Respect, and Responsibility — guide daily school life, and the school vision, "Passionate Learners, Caring Leaders," underpins its programmes and community engagement efforts.

North View places a strong emphasis on bilingualism, offering English alongside Chinese, Malay, and Tamil as mother tongue languages. The campus underwent a PRIME upgrading exercise to modernise its teaching and learning spaces. As an MOE school, North View follows the national curriculum and prepares students for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) across all core subjects.

Admission Process

Admission to North View Primary School at Primary 1 follows the MOE Primary 1 Registration Exercise, which is conducted in phases each year.

Phase 1 is reserved for children who have a sibling currently enrolled in the school. Phase 2A covers children whose parents are alumni, school staff, or members of the school advisory committee. Phase 2B is open to children whose parents have served as community volunteers at the school or are endorsed by the school or a church or clan association connected to it. Phase 2C is available to all Singapore citizens and permanent residents who have not secured a place in earlier phases, with priority given to families living within 1 km of the school, followed by those within 2 km.

Applications are submitted through the MOE online portal during the designated registration window. Required documents typically include the child's birth certificate and proof of residential address. Where applications in a given phase exceed available places, a ballot is conducted. Parents should refer to the MOE website for the most current registration timeline and vacancy information each year.

Curriculum and Academic Programme

North View Primary School follows the MOE national curriculum, covering English Language, Mathematics, Science (from Primary 3), and Mother Tongue Languages. Students may also take Higher Chinese, Higher Malay, or Higher Tamil if they meet the eligibility requirements. Foundation-level mother tongue is available for students who need additional support.

The school's Applied Learning Programme (ALP) focuses on STEM and sustainability under the theme "Sustainable Living Starts with Me." Through this programme, students engage in hands-on projects that connect science and technology concepts with environmental awareness. The Learning for Life Programme (LLP), titled "Every Pupil a Confident Performer," develops students' confidence and creative expression through music and the performing arts.

North View has produced strong results in mathematics competitions. At the 2024 National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore (NMOS), a student received an Honourable Mention. In the 2023 RI Primary Mathematics World Contest (RIPMWC), Primary 5 student Dan Wei Tong achieved a top placement. These results point to a curriculum that develops problem-solving and analytical thinking alongside the standard syllabus.

For families seeking additional support in mathematics beyond what the school provides, DeepThink is a math tuition centre that offers structured programmes aligned to the primary school syllabus, which some North View parents have found helpful as a complement to classroom learning.

Facilities and Co-Curricular Activities

North View Primary School's campus features interactive classrooms with digital learning tools, a library, dedicated STEM laboratories, and a Physical Science room. Outdoor facilities include multipurpose courts and garden spaces used for both physical education and project-based learning. The school provides barrier-free access and has allied educators and Special Educational Needs Officers on staff to support students with additional learning requirements.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are offered across four categories. In sports, students can participate in basketball (boys and girls), football (boys), floorball (boys), and outdoor adventure (boys and girls). Uniformed groups include the Boys' Brigade, Girls' Brigade, and Scouts. The performing arts programme offers choir, modern dance, Chinese dance, Malay dance, English drama, and guzheng ensemble — activities that connect directly to the school's Learning for Life Programme. Clubs available include Art and Crafts, Infocomm Technology, and Physical Science, the latter two providing opportunities for students to apply mathematical and logical reasoning through coding and experimentation.

Modular CCA sessions may be offered to younger students to introduce them to different activities before they select a regular CCA.

Student Life and School Culture

School hours run from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, and from 7.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Fridays. The single-session format gives students a consistent daily routine and leaves afternoons available for CCAs, enrichment, and family time.

The school's culture is shaped by its five core values and its vision of developing students who are both motivated learners and thoughtful members of the community. Programmes addressing social and emotional development are part of the school calendar, and the P1 TRANSIT programme provides targeted support for Primary 1 students adjusting to primary school life in areas such as social skills and classroom behaviour.

Parent engagement is encouraged through school events, volunteer opportunities during the P1 Registration Exercise, and regular communication channels. The school can be reached by phone at 6759 3235 or by email at [email protected].

North View Primary School is situated along Yishun Avenue 6, Singapore, within a residential neighbourhood served by public transport.
