Based on recent intake data, the indicative cut-off points for non-affiliated students are as follows: Posting Group 3 (G1 subjects initially) requires an AL score range of 8 to 22, Posting Group 2 (G2 subjects initially) requires 21 to 25, and Posting Group 1 (G3 subjects initially) requires 25 to 28. These figures reflect the score of the last student admitted in a given cycle and may shift from year to year.

The school also participates in the Direct School Admission (DSA) scheme, with talent areas including Basketball for both boys and girls. DSA applications are submitted through the MOE DSA-Sec Portal, typically between May and June, at no cost. Successful DSA applicants are committed to attending Northland regardless of their PSLE results.

Northland follows the O-Level track and does not offer the Integrated Programme (IP). Under Full Subject-Based Banding (FSBB), students have the flexibility to take individual subjects at different levels based on their strengths.

The school delivers the national secondary curriculum, covering core subjects such as English Language, Mathematics (Elementary and Additional), the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), and Humanities (Social Studies, Geography, History).
