NUS High School of Mathematics and Science (NUS High) opened in 2005 as a joint initiative between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Ministry of Education (MOE). Indicative PSLE Achievement Level (AL) scores for admitted students are typically in the range of 4 to 6, though admission decisions are based on demonstrated aptitude rather than PSLE scores alone.

Applicants register under the Mathematics and Science DSA category through the MOE DSA portal, which usually opens between May and June. The selection process includes written assessments, interviews, and in some cases a review of the applicant's portfolio. A Supplementary Intake Exercise (SIE) may follow for any remaining places, taking into account PSLE results and primary school academic records.

As an IP school, NUS High's six-year programme leads directly to the NUS High School Diploma, and students do not sit for the GCE O-Level examinations.
