How DeepThink supports Opera Estate Primary School students

  • Lessons follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus exactly — the same topics, heuristics, and model-drawing methods your child uses at Opera Estate Primary School

  • Small group classes so your child can ask questions, get feedback, and is never lost in the crowd

  • From P5 onwards, every class is structured around PSLE technique — not just content, but how to show working clearly and pick up method marks

  • Parents are kept in the loop on what was covered and where their child needs more practice — so you're never in the dark between sessions

What your child gets at DeepThink

Each weekly session builds directly on the last. Your child works through new concepts, revisits gaps, and practises exam-style questions — in a group small enough that the teacher actually knows them.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for parents

Does DeepThink follow the same syllabus my child is on at Opera Estate Primary School?

Yes. All Singapore primary schools follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus, and our P1–P6 classes are built around that curriculum — the same topics, the same model-drawing and heuristics approach, and the same exam format your child sits at Opera Estate Primary School.

How will I know if my child is making progress?

Parents are kept informed on what was covered and where their child should focus. We also flag any persistent gaps as soon as we spot them — not just before exams.

When should my child start tuition?

There's no single right answer, but earlier is generally better. Gaps in foundational topics like fractions and ratios compound as children move through primary school. A free trial class is a good way to find out where your child actually stands.

What makes DeepThink different from other math tuition centres?

Small group classes, parents kept in the loop on progress, and a curriculum focused on the exact skills MOE examiners test — including how to structure solutions, not just whether the answer is correct.

School Overview

Opera Estate Primary School (OEPS) came into being in 1985 when Opera Estate Boys' Primary School and Opera Estate Girls' Primary School — both established in 1959 — were merged into a single co-educational institution. The school marked its 40th anniversary in 2025. Guided by the vision "We Learn, We Grow, We Achieve" and the mission to "Grow Leaders, Empower Learners, Mould Character," OEPS fosters an environment where students develop resilience, empathy, and curiosity through what it calls the "Opera Learning Disposition."

As a government primary school operating on a single-session timetable, OEPS serves students from Primary 1 through Primary 6. Mother tongue instruction is available in Chinese, Malay, and Tamil, in keeping with MOE's bilingual education policy. The school also provides support for students with Special Educational Needs. Its address is 48 Fidelio Street, Singapore. Notable alumni include Ms Liew Wei Li, who went on to become the Director-General of Education in Singapore.

Admission Process

Primary 1 registration at OEPS follows MOE's centralised online process, which typically runs from July to August each year. Parents register through the MOE admissions portal and must submit the required documents, including their child's birth certificate.

Admission proceeds in phases. Earlier phases give priority to children with existing connections to the school, such as siblings currently enrolled or parents who are former students or staff members. Phase 2C is open to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents without prior ties to OEPS. Within Phase 2C, applicants are prioritised by home-to-school distance: those living within 1 km of the school are considered first, followed by those within 1–2 km, and then those beyond 2 km.

If the number of applicants in any phase exceeds available places, a computerised ballot is conducted. Parents can consult the MOE website for historical vacancy data and balloting outcomes to gauge demand.

Curriculum and Academic Programme

OEPS follows the national primary school curriculum set by MOE, covering English, Mathematics, Science, and Mother Tongue Languages at both standard and foundation levels. The school's mathematics instruction uses the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (C-P-A) approach, which moves students from physical manipulatives through visual representations to abstract reasoning. OEPS has reported a 99% pass rate in the Primary 6 mainstream programme, and its students have earned Silver and Bronze awards at the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (SMOPS) at the P5 and P6 levels.

Two signature programmes shape the school's academic identity. The Applied Learning Programme (ALP), titled "Opera Goes Green," focuses on STEM and sustainability, giving students opportunities to work with environmental data and apply scientific and mathematical concepts to real-world problems. The Learning for Life Programme (LLP), "Ignite De Arts @ OEPS," centres on music and the performing arts, developing creative expression alongside structured thinking.

Families looking for additional support in primary-level mathematics may consider DeepThink, a math tuition centre that offers structured programmes aligned to the MOE syllabus and designed to reinforce concepts taught in school.

Facilities and Co-Curricular Activities

The OEPS campus includes classrooms fitted with technology for collaborative learning, a library, and outdoor spaces that support the school's sustainability-focused ALP. Dedicated areas are used for STEM activities and performing arts rehearsals.

Co-curricular activities (CCAs) run over two days each week. Lower primary students (P1–P2) participate in modular CCAs — short introductory programmes spanning sports, visual arts, performing arts, and clubs — before committing to sustained CCAs from P3 onward. Activities broadly fall into four categories:

Sports: Options include basketball, soccer, and track events, building teamwork and physical fitness.

Performing and Visual Arts: The LLP in music and performing arts feeds into CCAs such as choir and visual arts, giving students regular performance and exhibition opportunities.

Clubs and Societies: STEM-oriented clubs, including SMOPS training and robotics sessions, allow students to explore coding, data analysis, and problem-solving beyond the classroom.

Uniformed Groups: Scouts and similar organisations develop discipline and community responsibility through structured group activities.

Student Life and School Culture

OEPS places emphasis on character education and social-emotional learning as part of its broader approach to student development. The school has received the National Education (NE) Development Award, reflecting its commitment to instilling civic values and a sense of national identity.

School hours follow the standard single-session primary school timetable, with flag-raising typically at 7:30 a.m. Students wear a prescribed uniform: boys in shirt and shorts, girls in a white blouse with dark blue knee-length skirt, with name tags displayed above the school badge. Plain white socks and white canvas shoes are required, and PE attire is worn on designated days.

Parent engagement is encouraged through the Opera Parents Club (OPC), which supports school events such as International Friendship Day and Career Day. A school-based Student Care Centre, operated by Knowledge Park Pte Ltd, is available from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. during term time and 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. during school holidays. Families can reach the centre at 9667 0687 or [email protected].

School bus services are provided by Uncle Lin Transport and Mesa Travel Pte Ltd. Parents may contact Ms Serena Chua at 9234 6908 or [email protected] for routes and fares. During inclement weather, parents may drive into the school compound, but all vehicles must register at the security post.
