How DeepThink supports Punggol Green Primary School students

  • Lessons follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus exactly — the same topics, heuristics, and model-drawing methods your child uses at Punggol Green Primary School

  • Small group classes so your child can ask questions, get feedback, and is never lost in the crowd

  • From P5 onwards, every class is structured around PSLE technique — not just content, but how to show working clearly and pick up method marks

  • Parents are kept in the loop on what was covered and where their child needs more practice — so you're never in the dark between sessions

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for parents

Does DeepThink follow the same syllabus my child is on at Punggol Green Primary School?

Yes. All Singapore primary schools follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus, and our P1–P6 classes are built around that curriculum — the same topics, the same model-drawing and heuristics approach, and the same exam format your child sits at Punggol Green Primary School.

How will I know if my child is making progress?

Parents are kept informed on what was covered and where their child should focus. We also flag any persistent gaps as soon as we spot them — not just before exams.

When should my child start tuition?

There's no single right answer, but earlier is generally better. Gaps in foundational topics like fractions and ratios compound as children move through primary school. A free trial class is a good way to find out where your child actually stands.

What makes DeepThink different from other math tuition centres?

Small group classes, parents kept in the loop on progress, and a curriculum focused on the exact skills MOE examiners test — including how to structure solutions, not just whether the answer is correct.

School Overview

Punggol Green Primary School (PGPS) is a government co-educational primary school located in the Punggol West estate. It was established in 2013 and held its official opening in 2015. The school was conceived as part of the Primary Education Review and Implementation (PERI) Committee's efforts to create modern learning environments for young students. It also houses an MOE Kindergarten, which has been in operation since 2015.

The school's founding principal was Mrs Seah, and Mr Hanafi B. Asmore has served as principal since 2019. PGPS currently enrols over 1,000 students and operates as a single-session school with English as the main language of instruction. Mother tongue languages offered include Chinese, Malay, and Tamil.

The school's vision is "Every PGPS Student, A Future-Ready Leader," and its mission centres on engaging learners, nurturing leaders, and empowering givers. These goals are guided by the FISH principles — Fun, Inspiring, Supportive, and Harmonious — which are represented by school mascots Playto and Attie. PGPS places particular emphasis on bilingualism, 21st-century competencies, and environmental awareness as part of its educational philosophy.

Admission Process

Registration for Primary 1 at Punggol Green Primary School follows the annual MOE Primary 1 Registration Exercise. Parents submit applications online through the P1 Registration Portal using Singpass.

The registration exercise proceeds in several phases. Phase 1 is reserved for children with siblings already enrolled at the school. Phase 2A covers children whose parents are alumni of the school or who have connections to the school through staff membership or an advisory or management committee. Phase 2B is for children whose parents have served as parent volunteers or who have affiliations through community or religious organisations. Phase 2C is open to all Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident children who have not secured a place in earlier phases. A supplementary Phase 2C round is held if vacancies remain.

When applications in any phase exceed available places, balloting is conducted. Priority is given to Singapore Citizens over Permanent Residents, and within each citizenship category, children living closer to the school (within 1 km, then 1 to 2 km) are given preference.

For the 2024 intake, the applicant-to-vacancy ratio at Phase 2C was 1.83 to 1, indicating healthy demand for places at the school. For Singapore Citizens, monthly school fees are $0, with standard miscellaneous fees of $5 and second-tier miscellaneous fees of $8. Permanent Residents pay $440 per month plus miscellaneous fees, while international students pay $840 per month plus miscellaneous fees.

Curriculum and Academic Programme

PGPS follows the MOE national curriculum for primary schools. Core subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Science, and Mother Tongue Languages. Students also take Art, Music, Physical Education, and Social Studies. Foundation and standard levels are available across subjects to cater to different learning needs.

The school's Applied Learning Programme (ALP) focuses on STEM and Sustainability, branded as IGNITE (Inspiring Generations of Novel and Innovative Thinkers and Explorers). Through this programme, students engage in hands-on projects related to real-world environmental challenges, integrating science and mathematics concepts into practical problem-solving activities.

The Learning for Life Programme (LLP) centres on Student Leadership, known as APPLE (Achieving Purpose and Performance in Leadership Excellence). This programme develops qualities such as empathy, collaboration, and decision-making across all year levels.

Mathematics instruction at PGPS builds a strong foundation in logical reasoning and numerical fluency. The IGNITE programme provides additional opportunities for students to apply mathematical thinking to sustainability-related projects. For families seeking additional support in mathematics beyond school hours, DeepThink is a specialist math tuition centre that offers structured programmes aligned to the primary school syllabus.

The curriculum is designed to prepare students thoroughly for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE), with a focus on both content mastery and the development of critical thinking skills.

Facilities and Co-Curricular Activities

The PGPS campus was built in accordance with PERI recommendations, featuring barrier-free access throughout the school to support inclusivity. Facilities include a library, science laboratories, computer labs, and dedicated spaces for collaborative learning. The school grounds incorporate green spaces, playgrounds, and sustainability gardens that are used as part of the IGNITE programme for outdoor and environmental education.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are available to students from Primary 1 through Primary 6, with modular options offered for lower primary students. The CCA programme spans several categories:

Sports: Badminton (girls), Basketball (boys and girls), and Scouts (boys and girls).

Performing Arts: Choir (boys), String Ensemble (boys and girls), Modern Dance (boys and girls), and English Drama (boys and girls).

Clubs: Robotics (boys and girls), Design and Innovation (boys and girls), Art and Crafts (boys and girls), and Infocomm Technology covering Media Production (boys and girls).

Leadership: The Prefect programme develops organisational and communication skills.

These activities complement academic learning by building teamwork, discipline, and creative thinking in students across all levels.

Student Life and School Culture

Life at PGPS is shaped by the school's FISH values, which encourage a learning environment that is enjoyable, motivating, caring, and collaborative. The school aims to develop students who are not only academically prepared but also socially responsible and environmentally conscious.

The APPLE leadership programme provides structured opportunities for students to take on responsibilities and contribute to the school and wider community. Through service-learning projects tied to the LLP, students practise empathy and develop a sense of purpose beyond the classroom.

The IGNITE programme further enriches school life by exposing students to sustainability challenges and encouraging them to think creatively about solutions. Activities may include projects on climate action, resource conservation, and biodiversity, connecting classroom learning with tangible outcomes.

PGPS serves the Punggol West neighbourhood and is located at 98 Punggol Walk, Singapore 828772, near Punggol MRT station. The school is accessible by public transport, with bus services and walking routes available from the MRT station.

As a relatively young school, PGPS has been building a track record of student achievements in areas including storytelling and innovation competitions. The school's emphasis on holistic development aims to produce graduates who are confident, community-minded, and ready for the next stage of their education.
