G1, G2, and G3 students are in separate classes, each covering the content and exam format for that stream
O-Level, N-Level, and SEC exam preparation built in from S3, matched to the stream your child is sitting
E-Math and A-Math taught in separate classes from S3 onwards
S1 to S5 coverage so your child can stay with DeepThink for their entire secondary journey without switching centres
Secondary Math is not one-size-fits-all. A G1 student preparing for the SEC exam needs completely different content from a G3 student heading for A-Math. We keep streams in separate classes so every session is relevant.
Stream-specific
Yes. G1, G2, and G3 students each have their own class, so every lesson matches the exact syllabus and exam format your child is sitting.
S3 is where most students hit a wall — the syllabus gets significantly harder, A-Math is new, and SEC exam (or O-Level for the current Sec 4 cohort) prep begins. Students who build strong foundations in S1–S2 handle that jump far better. Starting early is the highest-leverage move a parent can make.
S1 is ideal — algebra gaps from the start of secondary compound quickly and are harder to fix later. That said, students who join in S3 or S4 can still benefit significantly from targeted exam preparation.
Stream-specific classes. Every lesson, worked example, and past-year paper is matched to your child's stream.
Springfield Secondary School is a government co-educational school situated in Tampines, serving students in the eastern region of Singapore. Originally established on 21 December 1992 under the name Tampines West Secondary School, it moved to its present location at 30 Tampines Avenue 8 in 1994 and adopted its current name in 2000.
The school operates on a single-session basis and has an enrolment of approximately 980 students. Its motto, "Better Self for Better Tomorrow," reflects a focus on personal growth and contribution to the wider community. The school's core values are integrity, responsibility, respect, resilience, and care, and its stated vision is to develop "Future-Ready Learners with a Caring Heart and the Confidence to Lead."
Springfield offers two signature programmes that shape its educational approach. The Applied Learning Programme (ALP) centres on STEM with a specific focus on Health and Food Science, giving students practical exposure to scientific concepts through hands-on activities. The Learning for Life Programme (LLP), titled "GEARing Springfielders for Success," is built around community youth leadership and aims to develop students as active and responsible citizens.
Students gain entry to Springfield Secondary School primarily through the Secondary 1 Posting Exercise, which is based on PSLE Achievement Level (AL) scores. Based on the most recent intake cycle, the indicative cut-off scores for non-affiliated students were: Posting Group 3 — AL 11 to 22; Posting Group 2 — AL 21 to 25; Posting Group 1 — AL 26 to 29. These figures represent the score of the last student admitted and may shift year to year depending on demand.
The school also participates in the Direct School Admission (DSA) scheme, accepting applications in areas such as Floorball (for both boys and girls), Taekwondo, and Rockwall Climbing. DSA applications are submitted through the MOE portal, typically between May and July, with selection based on trials, portfolios, and interviews.
Under MOE's Full Subject-Based Banding (FSBB) framework, students at Springfield can take individual subjects at different levels according to their strengths, replacing the former rigid streaming structure. The school offers pathways leading to the GCE O-Level as well as Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical) tracks. Springfield does not offer an Integrated Programme.
Springfield's academic programme follows the MOE national curriculum. Core subjects include English Language, Mathematics (Elementary and Additional), the Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and Humanities (Social Studies, Geography, History). Students may also choose from electives such as Computing, Principles of Accounts, Nutrition and Food Science, Art, and Design and Technology. Mother Tongue language options cover Chinese, Malay, Higher Chinese, and Higher Malay, with Syllabus B support available.
The school's ALP in STEM — Health and Food Science provides an applied dimension to the science curriculum, connecting classroom learning with practical nutrition and health topics. Students have participated in national-level competitions related to these fields.
For students seeking additional support in Mathematics — whether for O-Level preparation or to build stronger foundations in Additional Mathematics — DeepThink is a math tuition centre that offers structured programmes aligned to the secondary Mathematics syllabus, which some Springfield families have found helpful.
Springfield's campus includes science laboratories, computing labs, a library, a multipurpose sports complex, arts studios, and a climbing wall. Classrooms are equipped with interactive learning technology.
Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are a core part of student life, with more than 15 options across several categories:
Sports: Floorball, Taekwondo, Netball (girls), Football (boys), Rockwall Climbing, Outdoor Adventure.
Uniformed Groups: Boys' Brigade (boys), Girls' Brigade (girls), NCC Land (boys), NPCC Sea (co-educational).
Performing Arts: Guzheng Ensemble, Modern Dance, English Drama, Concert Band.
Clubs and Societies: STEM Club, Debate, Robotics.
Several CCAs double as DSA talent areas, particularly Floorball and Rockwall Climbing. All CCAs contribute to character development, teamwork, and leadership — areas the school prioritises alongside academic learning.
Springfield's school culture centres on its stated commitment that "every Springfielder is somebody." The school maintains a teacher-to-student ratio of approximately 1:13, with typical class sizes of 30 to 40 students.
Pastoral care provisions include counselling services, anti-bullying programmes, and resilience-building workshops aligned with MOE's positive education guidelines. Peer mentoring and values-in-action projects give students regular opportunities to practise the school's core values in practical settings.
For students entering Secondary 1, the school runs orientation and buddy programmes to ease the transition from primary school. Parents and students note that establishing consistent study routines and participating in a CCA early on can help with the adjustment to secondary school life.
