Math Tuition for St. Anthony's Primary School Students

Small-group Primary Math classes where every child gets individual attention — and the skills to show it in exams.

How DeepThink supports St. Anthony's Primary School students

  • Lessons follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus exactly — the same topics, heuristics, and model-drawing methods your child uses at St. Anthony's Primary School

  • Small group classes so your child can ask questions, get feedback, and is never lost in the crowd

  • From P5 onwards, every class is structured around PSLE technique — not just content, but how to show working clearly and pick up method marks

  • Parents are kept in the loop on what was covered and where their child needs more practice — so you're never in the dark between sessions

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for parents

Does DeepThink follow the same syllabus my child is on at St. Anthony's Primary School?

Yes. All Singapore primary schools follow the MOE Primary Math syllabus, and our P1–P6 classes are built around that curriculum — the same topics, the same model-drawing and heuristics approach, and the same exam format your child sits at St. Anthony's Primary School.

How will I know if my child is making progress?

Parents are kept informed on what was covered and where their child should focus. We also flag any persistent gaps as soon as we spot them — not just before exams.

When should my child start tuition?

There's no single right answer, but earlier is generally better. Gaps in foundational topics like fractions and ratios compound as children move through primary school. A free trial class is a good way to find out where your child actually stands.

What makes DeepThink different from other math tuition centres?

Small group classes, parents kept in the loop on progress, and a curriculum focused on the exact skills MOE examiners test — including how to structure solutions, not just whether the answer is correct.

School Overview

St. Anthony's Primary School (SAPS) traces its origins to 1 August 1879, when it was established as St. Anna's School by the Catholic Portuguese Mission in a rented premises along Middle Road. The school was originally set up to provide free schooling for disadvantaged boys and girls. After moving to a purpose-built facility in 1886, the institution was renamed St. Anthony's Boys' and Girls' School. The Christian Brothers assumed management in 1939, and by 1961 the school had reorganised as a primary-only institution. A further relocation in 1992 brought SAPS to its present Bukit Batok campus, where it operates as a co-educational, government-aided primary school.

The school's motto, Crescit Eundo — meaning "Grows as it goes" — captures its approach to education: developing children across intellectual, physical, aesthetic, spiritual, and social-emotional dimensions through bilingual, values-centred teaching. As a Lasallian Catholic school, SAPS maintains affiliations with St. Joseph's Institution (Secondary) and St. Patrick's School, providing students with priority pathways for secondary school placement.

Admission Process

Primary 1 registration at St. Anthony's Primary School follows the standard MOE admission framework, which proceeds through several phases. Phase 1 is reserved for children who have a sibling currently enrolled at the school. Phase 2A gives priority to children whose parents are alumni of the school, are members of the school advisory or management committee, or whose parents are staff members. Phase 2B accommodates children whose parents have volunteered at the school or who are endorsed by community leaders or organisations connected to the school. Phase 2C is the open phase for all remaining applicants, with places allocated based on home-to-school distance if applications exceed available spots.

All applications are submitted through the MOE Primary 1 registration portal during the designated window each year. When demand exceeds supply in any phase, balloting is conducted with priority given to families living within 1 km of the school, followed by those within 1 to 2 km. Parents should refer to the MOE website for the most current registration dates and eligibility details.

In the 2024 registration cycle, SAPS received 39 applications for 36 available places, resulting in an application-to-vacancy ratio of 0.77. This placed it 39th out of 150 primary schools by application volume.

Curriculum and Academic Programme

SAPS delivers the full MOE primary curriculum, covering English Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Physical Education, and mother tongue languages — Chinese, Malay, Tamil, and Hindi are all available at standard, foundation, and higher levels.

Mathematics instruction at SAPS follows the national Mathematics Curriculum Framework, with teachers using a structured problem-solving approach based on Polya's four-step method. Lessons incorporate concrete manipulatives and heuristics calibrated to each level, building logical reasoning and number sense progressively from Primary 1 through to Primary 6. Assessment for Learning practices help teachers identify gaps early and tailor support accordingly, which forms a solid basis for PSLE preparation.

The school's Applied Learning Programme (ALP) focuses on STEM through Game Design and Making, branded internally as CODE@SAPS. Through this programme, students engage in coding, prototyping, and computational thinking activities that reinforce mathematical concepts such as geometry and algorithmic logic. The Learning for Life Programme (LLP) centres on Visual Arts and Design, encouraging personal expression, growth, and community contribution through art-based projects.

Students preparing for the PSLE benefit from structured revision and differentiated instruction across subjects. For families seeking additional support in Mathematics, DeepThink is a math tuition centre that offers programmes aligned to the primary syllabus, helping students strengthen problem-solving skills and exam readiness.

SAPS students have performed well in external competitions, earning results such as second place in the Inter-Primary Maths and Science Competition, four Gold and two Silver medals at the Annual Mathlympic, and recognition at the National Junior Robotics Competition including first place for Research Journal and second for Most Creative entry.

Facilities and Co-Curricular Activities

SAPS operates as a single-session school on its Bukit Batok campus. The campus includes classrooms configured for interactive learning, a school library, and dedicated spaces for computing and robotics that support the ALP in Game Design. Outdoor areas are used for physical education, sports, and environmental programmes.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) at SAPS span more than 20 options across several categories, providing students with opportunities to develop skills and interests beyond the classroom.

Sports: Badminton, Football (Boys), Floorball, and Tchoukball are among the physical CCAs available. A Modular CCA (Sports) programme allows students from Primary 1 to Primary 6 to try different sports through shorter-term commitments.

Performing Arts: Students can participate in Choir, Brass Band, Modern Dance, and Chinese Dance.

Clubs and Societies: Offerings include Infocomm Technology (Computing), Robotics, Art and Crafts, English Language Drama and Debating, and Environmental Science.

Uniformed Groups: Scouts (Boys) and Brownies (Girls) are available, developing discipline, teamwork, and community responsibility.

The school also organises enrichment events such as an annual Math Games Day for Primary 1 to 4 students, facilitated with the help of former students, which extends mathematical learning into collaborative, hands-on activities.

Student Life and School Culture

As a Lasallian Catholic institution, SAPS grounds its school culture in values-based education that emphasises respect, responsibility, and service to others. The school nurtures students across five developmental domains — intellectual, physical, aesthetic, spiritual, and social-emotional — aiming to develop well-rounded individuals prepared for secondary school and beyond.

Student leadership is cultivated through structured programmes and CCA involvement. The school encourages active participation in community and service activities, reflecting its founding mission of educating children for the benefit of society.

Family engagement is a notable aspect of the SAPS experience. The school maintains channels for parent involvement through school events, volunteer opportunities, and communication platforms, recognising that a strong home-school partnership supports student development.

SAPS has received recognition across multiple areas, including the NEA CASP Gold Award for environmental efforts and the CHERISH Silver Award, reflecting the school's commitment to holistic development that extends beyond academic results.

Pastoral support is provided through form teachers and programmes addressing social and behavioural development, including dedicated transition support for Primary 1 students adjusting to formal schooling.
