St. Hilda’s Secondary School has a story rooted in resilience and faith. DeepThink's Secondary Math programme supports St. Hilda's Secondary School students with stream-specific classes for G1, G2, and G3.
St. Hilda’s Secondary School has a story rooted in resilience and faith. It started back in 1929 as Bethel English School, a small setup on Ceylon Road, before the Anglican Diocese of Singapore took it over in 1934 and renamed it St. Hilda’s in 1938 after the 7th-century saint Hilda of Whitby.
G1, G2, and G3 students are in separate classes, each covering the content and exam format for that stream
O-Level, N-Level, and SEC exam preparation built in from S3, matched to the stream your child is sitting
E-Math and A-Math taught in separate classes from S3 onwards
S1 to S5 coverage so your child can stay with DeepThink for their entire secondary journey without switching centres
Secondary Math is not one-size-fits-all. A G1 student preparing for the SEC exam needs completely different content from a G3 student heading for A-Math. We keep streams in separate classes so every session is relevant.
Stream-specific
Yes. G1, G2, and G3 students each have their own class, so every lesson matches the exact syllabus and exam format your child is sitting.
S3 is where most students hit a wall — the syllabus gets significantly harder, A-Math is new, and SEC exam (or O-Level for the current Sec 4 cohort) prep begins. Students who build strong foundations in S1–S2 handle that jump far better. Starting early is the highest-leverage move a parent can make.
S1 is ideal — algebra gaps from the start of secondary compound quickly and are harder to fix later. That said, students who join in S3 or S4 can still benefit significantly from targeted exam preparation.
Stream-specific classes. Every lesson, worked example, and past-year paper is matched to your child's stream.
St. Hilda's Secondary School traces its origins to 1929, when it began as Bethel English School on Ceylon Road. The Anglican Diocese of Singapore assumed management in 1934 and adopted the current name in 1938, honouring the 7th-century saint Hilda of Whitby. Notably, the school continued operating throughout the Japanese Occupation — an achievement shared by very few mission schools at the time. After the war, it reopened as a co-educational institution, transitioned to an all-girls school in 1950, and returned to co-education in the 1980s before moving to its present Tampines campus in 1988.
Today, St. Hilda's is a government-aided Anglican school enrolling approximately 1,400 students in single-session classes. The school motto, "Go Forward," is drawn from Exodus 14:15 and reflects a commitment to perseverance and community service. The educational philosophy centres on developing self-directed learners who take ownership of their progress, critical thinkers who apply values-based reasoning, and contributing members of society who serve their wider community. The school is affiliated with St. Hilda's Primary School and St. Andrew's Junior College, providing connected pathways across educational stages. Distinctive programmes include the Applied Learning Programme (ALP) in English Language and the Learning for Life Programme (LLP) in sports and outdoor education. St. Hilda's follows the O-Level track rather than the Integrated Programme, with an emphasis on well-rounded development alongside academic preparation.
Entry to St. Hilda's Secondary School is primarily through the PSLE posting exercise. Students from the affiliated St. Hilda's Primary School benefit from priority placement with adjusted cut-off thresholds.
Based on the 2024 PSLE results for 2025 intake, the indicative Achievement Level (AL) cut-off scores were as follows:
Affiliated students — Posting Group 1: 26 to 28, Posting Group 2: 23 to 25, Posting Group 3: 6 to 22.
Non-affiliated students — Posting Group 1: 25 to 27, Posting Group 2: 21 to 23, Posting Group 3: 10 to 13.
Lower AL scores indicate stronger performance. These figures represent the last admitted student in each category and may shift from year to year.
The Direct School Admission (DSA) scheme is also available for students with demonstrated strengths in areas such as academics, sports (including badminton and netball), the arts, or leadership. Applications are submitted through the MOE DSA portal, typically opening in May for entry the following January.
Under Full Subject-Based Banding (FSBB), students are placed in Posting Groups 1, 2, or 3 after PSLE, with the flexibility to take individual subjects at different levels according to their strengths. Parents considering St. Hilda's may find it helpful to attend the school's open house events, usually held between May and June, to speak with staff and visit the campus.

Elective offerings encompass Higher Chinese, Literature in English, Principles of Accounts, Art, Design and Technology, and Nutrition and Food Science.

Daily school life follows a structured routine of lessons, assemblies, and CCA sessions, with class sizes of approximately 40 students. The teacher-to-student ratio supports individual attention, and pastoral care is provided through dedicated counselling services, anti-bullying programmes, and student wellness initiatives.
Inclusivity is central to the school's approach. SEN provisions ensure that students with additional needs receive appropriate support, and the school's ethos emphasises recognising and developing each student's strengths. Service learning initiatives partner with external organisations for community projects spanning environmental, health, and rehabilitation causes.
Student leadership is actively developed through sub-committee roles and CCA responsibilities.
