Secondary Math classes grouped by stream, each covering the exact syllabus and exam format for that level.
G1, G2, and G3 students are in separate classes, each covering the content and exam format for that stream
O-Level, N-Level, and SEC exam preparation built in from S3, matched to the stream your child is sitting
E-Math and A-Math taught in separate classes from S3 onwards
S1 to S5 coverage so your child can stay with DeepThink for their entire secondary journey without switching centres
Secondary Math is not one-size-fits-all. A G1 student preparing for the SEC exam needs completely different content from a G3 student heading for A-Math. We keep streams in separate classes so every session is relevant.
Stream-specific
Yes. G1, G2, and G3 students each have their own class, so every lesson matches the exact syllabus and exam format your child is sitting.
S3 is where most students hit a wall — the syllabus gets significantly harder, A-Math is new, and SEC exam (or O-Level for the current Sec 4 cohort) prep begins. Students who build strong foundations in S1–S2 handle that jump far better. Starting early is the highest-leverage move a parent can make.
S1 is ideal — algebra gaps from the start of secondary compound quickly and are harder to fix later. That said, students who join in S3 or S4 can still benefit significantly from targeted exam preparation.
Stream-specific classes. Every lesson, worked example, and past-year paper is matched to your child's stream.
St. Patrick's School (SPS) is a government-aided Roman Catholic all-boys secondary school situated in Singapore's East Coast. Established in 1933 as a temporary extension of Saint Joseph's Institution by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a French Catholic teaching order, the school was named after the Patrick family, who donated the land on which it was built. Today, SPS operates as a single-session Lasallian institution serving students across the Express, Normal (Academic), and Normal (Technical) streams.
The school's motto, Potest Qui Vult, translates to "He who wills, can" and reflects an educational philosophy centred on perseverance and self-determination. As part of the Lasallian tradition, SPS aims to develop students who are described as "Boys of Faith, Gentlemen with Purpose, and Leaders with Heart," guided by the core values of Faith, Service, and Community. The school's history includes resilience through wartime and a longstanding connection to Irish-Catholic educational traditions, contributing to a distinctive identity within Singapore's secondary school landscape.
Entry to St. Patrick's School at Secondary 1 is primarily through the PSLE posting exercise and the Direct School Admission (DSA) scheme.
For the PSLE route, cut-off points are based on Achievement Level scores and differ by affiliation status and posting group. For non-affiliated students, the indicative cut-off points are 11 for Posting Group 3, 22 for Posting Group 2, and 27 for Posting Group 1. Affiliated students from linked primary schools such as De La Salle School, St. Joseph's Institution Junior, St. Stephen's School, and St. Anthony's Primary School benefit from lower thresholds, typically ranging from 13 to 19 for Posting Group 3. These figures represent the score of the last student admitted in that cycle and may change from year to year.
The DSA scheme is open to Primary 6 students who wish to gain admission based on demonstrated talent before PSLE results are released. SPS accepts DSA applications in areas including sports (such as badminton, football, cricket, and golf), performing arts (such as concert band, guitar ensemble, and drama), and leadership through uniformed groups (such as NCC and Scouts). Successful DSA applicants commit to the school for the duration of the programme and must still meet minimum PSLE requirements.
Under Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB), students can take individual subjects at different levels based on their strengths, rather than being placed in a single fixed stream. SPS follows the O-Level track and does not offer the Integrated Programme.
St. Patrick's School follows the Ministry of Education curriculum framework for secondary schools. Core subjects include English Language, Mathematics (Elementary and Additional), Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and Humanities (Social Studies combined with Geography or History). Students may also select from electives such as Chinese, Malay, Tamil (Syllabus B), Higher Chinese, Principles of Accounts, Computing, Literature in English, Design and Technology, and Nutrition and Food Science.
The school's Applied Learning Programme (ALP) focuses on STEM and Emerging Technologies, incorporating modules in robotics, coding, and applied science to develop practical problem-solving skills. This programme is designed to give students exposure to technology-driven fields and encourage innovation.
In recent years, SPS has reported improved O-Level results, with the 2024 cohort achieving the school's strongest performance in a decade, particularly in Mathematics and the Sciences. The school has also produced notable alumni in technical and engineering fields.
For students who want additional support in building a strong Mathematics foundation alongside their schoolwork, DeepThink is a specialist math tuition centre offering structured programmes aligned to the O-Level syllabuses that some SPS families have found helpful.
The SPS campus includes air-conditioned classrooms fitted with interactive learning technology, a library, dedicated science and computer laboratories, arts studios supporting the school's music technology programmes, and a multi-purpose sports hall. The campus retains elements of its original 1930s character while incorporating modern upgrades.
Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are a compulsory component of student life and play a central role in character development. SPS offers more than 20 CCAs across four categories:
Sports and Games: Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Track and Field, Tennis, Floorball, and Golf.
Uniformed Groups: National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC), Scouts, and National Cadet Corps (Air and Land).
Performing Arts: Concert Band, Guitar Ensemble, Modern Dance, and English Drama.
Clubs and Societies: Media and Journalism, Computational Thinking, and Community Youth Leadership.
Several of these CCAs serve as DSA talent areas for prospective students. The school's cricket programme, in particular, has a track record of national-level achievement.
Daily school life at SPS typically begins at 7:15 AM with morning assemblies that include faith-based reflections and school announcements. Class sizes are capped at around 40 students, and the school maintains a teacher-to-student ratio of approximately 1:15, supporting closer engagement between staff and students.
The school's Lasallian ethos shapes a culture that emphasises brotherhood, service, and personal responsibility. Pastoral care programmes, anti-bullying protocols, and resilience-building workshops form part of the school's approach to student well-being, aligned with MOE guidelines. Community service initiatives are woven into school life, reflecting the Lasallian commitment to serving others.
SPS has affiliations with De La Salle School, St. Joseph's Institution Junior, St. Stephen's School, and St. Anthony's Primary School, providing priority admission pathways for students from these feeder schools. For post-secondary progression, the school provides career guidance and maintains a connection with Catholic Junior College, alongside preparation for polytechnic and other pathways through its O-Level programme.
The Learning for Life Programme (LLP) at SPS centres on Music and Performing Arts, specifically Music and Music Technology. This programme integrates character education with creative expression and aims to foster a lasting appreciation for the arts among students.
